Abstract
[Objective] To explore the therapeutic efficacy of acupuncture at Jiaji acupoints combined with lumbar and abdominal muscle strength training on lumbar disc herniation(LDH). [Methods] Eighty-two patients with LDH admitted to our hospital(December 2022 to December 2023)were included as the research subjects and randomly divided into a training group and a combined group, with 41 cases in each group. The training group received lumbar and abdominal muscle strength training, while the combined group received acupuncture at Jiaji acupoints on the basis of the training group. The therapeutic efficacy, pain level, lumbar spine function, lumbar surface electromyography, and inflammatory factor levels of the two groups were observed before treatment(T0)and after 3 months of treatment(T1). [Results] At T1,the combined group(90.24%)had a significantly higher total effective rate than the training group(73.17%)(P<0.05). The visual analog scale(VAS)scores of lower back and leg pain, Oswestry Disability Index(ODI)scores, and levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-6(IL-6),and Creactive protein(CRP)were significantly reduced in both groups(P<0.05),with the combined group significantly lower than the training group(P<0.05). The Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)lumbar spine function scale scores, integrated electromyography(IEMG),median frequency(MF),and root mean square(RMS)levels were significantly increased in both groups(P<0.05),with the combined group significantly higher than the training group (P<0.05). [Conclusion] Acupuncture at Jiaji acupoints combined with lumbar and abdominal muscle strength training has a significant therapeutic effect on LDH,which can significantly alleviate pain, improve lumbar function and muscle strength, and reduce the level of inflammatory response.
