Abstract
[Objective] To investigate the effects of different concentrations of exogenous methyl jasmonate(MeJA) on the germination of Ziziphus jujuba var. spinosa seeds under drought and salt stress conditions. [Methods] Seed germination experiments were conducted to compare the effects of different concentrations of MeJA on seed germination under drought stress(10% PEG6000),salt stress(100 mmol/L NaCl),and combined drought and salt stress(6% PEG6000+70 mmol/L NaCl). [Results] The results showed that drought stress, salt stress, and combined stress all inhibited the germination potential, germination rate, germination index, seed vigor, and radicle length of Z. jujuba var. spinosa seeds, with the combined stress having the most severe toxic effect. Exogenous MeJA significantly increased the germination rate, germination index, seed vigor, and radicle length under each stress condition, and its effect on reducing the relative harm rate under combined stress was the most significant. This indicates that MeJA can significantly alleviate the adverse effects of drought and salt stress on seed germination. [Conclusion] Through the membership function method,50 μmol/L MeJA was identified as the most effective concentration for alleviating the effects of each stress condition, representing the optimal treatment concentration.
