Abstract:
As a first-line treatment for malignant tumors, chemotherapy, while exerting anti-tumor effects, can induce significant immune suppression, disrupt host immune homeostasis, and cause disorders of the neuroendocrine system. This leads to dual impairment of the body's anti-infective and anti-tumor capabilities, thereby affecting the implementation of treatment and the quality of life of patients. Recent studies have confirmed that acupuncture has unique value in improving immune suppression after chemotherapy. Although there have been a large number of basic and clinical studies, the precise molecular mechanisms by which acupuncture ameliorates chemotherapy-induced immune suppression remain to be clarified. This systematic review found that acupuncture can effectively reverse the immune suppression state after chemotherapy by regulating the balance of immune cell subsets, reshaping cytokine balance, modulating the activity of signaling pathways, and synergistically improving intestinal immune disorders. This provides theoretical support for explaining the biological mechanisms of acupuncture's immune regulation and offers a new approach for optimizing comprehensive tumor treatment regimens.
